Mokena District 159, Area Schools on Soft Lockdown after Phone Threat
Students were kept indoors until police gave the all-clear. Dismissal went as planned.

Mokena District 159 schools were on soft lockdown Tuesday, after a threat was called into Mokena Elementary School.
The message was received around 9 a.m., and police were called immediately. The content of the call is not being disclosed.
“It was a threat they took seriously,” said Mary Louise Knoerzer on behalf of the district. “Police are working on it.”

All students were safe throughout the day, Knoerzer added, and were kept indoors until police gave the all-clear. Dismissal went as planned, and after-school activities were canceled.
Summit Hill District 161, Frankfort District 157-C, New Lenox District 122, and Lincoln-Way District 210 schools were also advised to implement a soft lockdown, as a precautionary measure. This incident is still under being followed up on; however, at this time there is no credible information to cause concern, according to Frankfort Police.
