Mokena Elementary Students Grow Pumpkins!
Kindergartners learn all about growing plants, from seed to pumpkin!
Mrs. Blank's, Mrs. Neff's, and Miss Carroll's Kindergarten classes do a plant unit at the end of the school year as part of their science curriculum. The kindergarten students all planted plants here at school in our Kindergarten planting beds that are located in the courtyard here.
Each child also planted a plant of their own. They were also given pumpkin seeds to plant in a clear cup, water and fill out a journal for 2 weeks of their plants progress. It was fun for the kiddos to watch the roots grow in the clear cups. The students then took the pumpkin plants home and planted them. Students had so much fun over the summer taking care of their pumpkins over the summer!
