Mokena Fire District Receives $196K Grant For New Equipment
The grant will allow the district to replace its current inventory of aging Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus.
MOKENA, IL — The Mokena Fire Protection District has been awarded a grant for new equipment. The grant, submitted under the Directorate's Assistance to Firefighters Grants program, is for $196,071.42 and the fire district will contribute $9,803.58 for a total of $205,875.
According to the district, the grant will allow the district to replace its current inventory of aging Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus. The old apparatus was purchased through a grant in 2003.
The fire district said the purpose of the Assistance to Firefighters Grant program is to protect the health and safety of the public and the firefighting personnel against fire and fire-related hazards.
