Mokena Man Charged in 2001 Murder
Marcus D. Jones, 31, of Mokena, has been charged with the 2001 shooting death of Terrance Chandler in Joliet.
Marcus D. Jones, 31, of Mokena, was charged Friday for the May 15, 2001 murder of Terrance Chandler, the Will County Sheriff's Office announced in a press release.
Chandler was found on May 15, 2001, shot in the road behind his vehicle on Patterson Road, east of Loretta Avenue, near Joliet. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
There were no witnesses.

Although Jones was questioned following the murder, he provided an alibi, which sheriff's deputies confirmed.
The case went cold until recent information provided by the Will County Sheriff’s Gang Suppression Unit led the Sheriff’s Office to re-open the case. Witnesses were re-interviewed, giving detectives repudiated stories this time around.

According to the sheriff's office website, Jones was in Will County Jail as of Friday night on $250,000 bond. His next court date is Monday.
