Mokena Memorial Day Ceremony Goes Virtual
Resident can watch on TV as the VFW recites the names of those Mokena residents who have given their lives in service to their country.
MOKENA, IL — While there is normally a procession down Wolf Road with stops at cemeteries, Mokena's Memorial Day ceremony will be different this year due to the coronavirus. Residents will be able to watch on TV as William Martin VFW Post #725 honors the men and women who gave the ultimate sacrifice for their country.
This year, since no large gatherings are allowed, residents can watch at 10 a.m. Monday on Comcast Channel 6 as Post Commander James Hogan recites the names of those Mokena residents who have given their lives in service to their country.
Nearby Frankfort, which also usually hosts a Memorial Day ceremony, is also planning a virtual ceremony this year.
