Mokena Park District Plans Chi-Town Showdown 5k
The Mokena Community Park District has announced the Chi-Town Showdown 5k will be held rain or shine on Saturday, June 1.
MOKENA, IL — The Mokena Community Park District has announced the Chi-Town Showdown 5k will be held rain or shine on Saturday, June 1 in Mokena. The 5k run and walk begins at 8 a.m. and the kids dash will start around 9 a.m. at Main Park, 10925 W. La Porte Road.
The park district said the race is a USATF-certified 5k course and transponder-timed run and fun walk. There will be refreshments, entertainment and an awards ceremony. There will also be split times and markers, and water stations will be along the course.
According to the park district, there will also be a short presentation about the Mokena Community Park District Foundation’s Showdown Scholarship. A portion of the event proceeds will be designated for the scholarship which will go to a child in the community to fund their participation in a park district athletic program or one of the affiliate athletic programs.

Registered children age 10 and under can participate in a race around the bases at
approximately 9 a.m., the park district said. All Kids Dash participants will receive a ribbon/prize.
Early bird registration is $20 by May 18, and after May 18 it is $25. Day of registration will be $30.
