Mokena Police To Unveil New $16M Headquarters May 29

A ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held Wednesday, May 29, followed by an open house.

MOKENA, IL — Those curious can get a peek inside the new Mokena Police Department headquarters, with a ribbon cutting ceremony and open house set for Wednesday, May 29.

Construction on the 45,000-square-foot building located at 10300 West 191st St. began in July 2022, with finishing touches under way now.

The $16 million facility features state-of-the-art technology including video monitoring and access control, a defensive tactics area, a fitness center, an indoor firing range, a detention center, and administrative offices, according Henry Bros. Construction.

"The new station will have a welcoming community plaza in front, as well as a large community room for hosting neighborhood meetings, training classes, and other gatherings," Police Chief Brian Benton previously said. "It will have a first-floor records section that will be entirely handicap accessible."

The ceremony and open house will be held Wednesday, May 29, from 3 to 7 p.m.
