Mokena's Provena Health to Merge with Resurrection
The proposed merger would create a health care provider with more than $3 billion in operating revenues.

Mokena-based Provena Health has reached an agreement to merge with Resurrection Health Care, which would create the largest Catholic health provider in Illinois.
The decision was announced Tuesday after months of talks between the two health care providers
“The more we talked, the more we realized that through collaboration and equal partnership, we take a major step toward achieving a long-common goal of ensuring for the future access to a vibrant Catholic health system which will enhance our abilities to meet the needs of the communities we are privileged to serve,” Guy R. Wiebking, President and CEO of Provena Health, stated in a news release.

The new system would include 12 hospitals, 28 long-term care and senior residential facilities, more than 50 primary and specialty care clinics and six home health agencies.
The system would be the single largest Catholic health care network in Illinois and one of the largest integrated health systems in the state, with nearly $3 billion in operating revenues.

The merger must be reviewed and approved by the Illinois Health Facilities Services Review Board.
