Motorcyclist Dies After Accident In Mokena: Coroner

Batka lost control of the motorcycle and was ejected onto the roadway.

MOKENA, IL — A Bloomingdale man has died after a motorcycle accident at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday in Mokena. Mark Batka, 63, was pronounced deceased at 2:23 p.m. Wednesday at Silver Cross Hospital, the Will County Coroner's Office said.

According to the coroner's office, Batka was the driver of a motorcycle on southbound La Grange Road just south of I-80. Batka lost control of the motorcycle and was ejected onto the roadway.

According to police, witnesses said it appeared the motorcycle was not stopping for the traffic light and the driver "lay down" his bike.

The coroner's office said the final cause and manner of death is pending medical records, police investigation and toxicological reports. The Mokena Police Department continues to investigate the incident.
