Peaches is without a home after her owner, a Vietnam vet, died.
MOKENA, IL — For those looking to adopt a pet, a great place to look for your new family member is at NAWS Humane Society of Illinois. This week's 'Adoptable Pet' is Peaches, who are available for adoption at the humane society.
Peaches is about eight years old and is a female shepherd mix. The society said she is now without a home after her owner, a Vietnam vet, died.
Peaches has lived with other dogs and is dog-friendly, the society said Peaches is a sweet and gentle girl, and she loves kids. She will lay on the floor near them and roll on her back for belly rubs.

NAWS Humane Society of Illinois is located at 9981 W. 190th St., Suite A, in Mokena. The society is open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday; 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday; and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sunday.
