MOKENA, IL — For those looking to adopt a pet, a great place to look for your new family member is at NAWS Humane Society of Illinois. This week's 'Adoptable Pet' is Penelope, who is available for adoption at the humane society.

Penelope is a 4-year-old female brown tabby, who was found as a stray. The society said she spent time in a NAWS foster home learning to trust, gaining confidence, and feeling like a cherished pet.

Penelope now enjoys attention and likes to be pet, but prefers when people move slowly at first until she feels she can trust, the society said. She is quiet and reserved at NAWS, and prefers to spend the day in her kitty tower.

She is not a fan of the activity and noise of a busy rescue, but seems to love when someone stops by to gently pet her, the society said. Penelope would do best in a quieter home where she can be someone's companion and enjoy lounging around as a lap cat.

You can email Delonda at delonda@nawsus.org or call NAWS at 708-478-5102 with any questions or to meet her. All NAWS cats are spayed/neutered, micro-chipped and up-to-date on vaccines.
