Noonan Elementary Academy is an independent Catholic school in Mokena serving preschool through 8th grade.

“Every child deserves an effective, challenging, and motivating education. And, because each student has their own unique set of talents, interests, and challenges, having a variety of options in education is crucial. What works well for one child may not work well for another child! In short, school choice ensures that each student can find a learning environment that allows them to be inspired, successful, and happy.” (National School Choice Week website)

Noonan students excel in academics by continuously scoring two grade levels, or more, higher than their current grade level on our yearly SAT test. These students come to Noonan from twenty-two different zip codes, in and outside of the Lincoln-Way area. Their families represent forty-three different houses of worship and fourteen different religious affiliations. Noonan students are served by priests from ten different Catholic religious organizations and parishes. All our 8th grade graduates are accepted into local Catholic high schools with 79% of our 2021 graduates going on to attend selective enrollment high schools such as St. Ignatius College Prep, Benet Academy, Chesterton Academy of The Holy Family, Illinois Math and Science Academy, and other similarly prestigious schools.

Noonan maintains an environment that is a catalyst for learning. In addition to Noonan students going to school an equivalent of 30 additional days per year, the classroom size is relatively half the size of neighboring schools. The student-faculty ratio is among the best in the area at 7:1. The smaller classrooms allow for better learning conditions, personal attention, and increased levels of participation. All of which add to the students' academic experience. Not only do they have a teacher to student ratio that will allow the gifted, average, and at-risk student to maximize their potential, they also have various levels of resources available to their students. The "Noonan Advantage" has resulted in superior standardized test scores in every subject area listed compared to the national average. Every child deserves the opportunity to reach his or her full potential in a nurturing, safe, and stimulating environment. With resources such as a state of the art computer lab, SMART Boards in every classroom, award-winning speech, drama, and chess programs, STEM Lab, engineering & robotics, and computer science as well as sports, band, art, music, additional classes in Spanish and Latin, and more available, Noonan provides the best for their students.

In addition to Noonan being a completely nut-free facility they also have nutritional guidelines in place which goes beyond keeping their students safe from known allergens, it also focuses on nutrition for optimal learning.
