Noonan Academy invites parents and grandparents to school
Noonan Elementary Academy in Mokena, an independent Catholic school serving preschool through 8th grade, recently invited students’ parents and grandparents to the school to experience what an instructional day at Noonan is like. Principal, Joseph Dunn stated that “the importance of Parents’ Day and Grandparents’ Day is to allow our partners in education the opportunity to experience a snap shot of our curriculum and experience the passion our staff has in delivering that curriculum.”
Both parents and grandparents were invited to the school on separate days to experience a condensed version of what a school day is like. After the classroom presentations were completed, they were escorted to the curriculum fair, where examples of students’ work from throughout the year were on display from various subjects.
Dunn went on to say, “the impact of these days is best said in our mission statement, which reads ” When parents and school work together reinforcing each other every step of the way, the children will win. We love and respect one another. The child must see us acting in unison and speaking with one voice. We must be family.”
