Noonan Academy Students "CAN" Do It!
Noonan Academy students set goal to collect one million can tabs to benefit Roland McDonald House Charities

Students at Noonan Academy kicked off a multi-month service project in November to benefit Ronald McDonald House Charities, proving that they “can” do it!
The entire school is coming together to achieve their goal to collect one million can tabs by June 5th. All can tabs collected will go to the Ronald McDonald House Charities. Currently Noonan has approximately 11,000 can tabs collected. The service project was spearheaded by sixth grader Colin Hearns, supported by Noonan’s Holy Family Association, the parent teacher organization at the school, and was turned into a school-wide service project.
The following students participated in the initial push to collect can tabs by filling a minimum of a 48oz container with can tabs within thirty days - eighth graders Jake Glennon and Morgan Ficht; seventh graders Jack Gordon, Molly Gordon, Luke Leverett, Sophia Leverett, and Cassidy Lloyd; fourth grader Trevor Dusek; and first grader Nathan Dusek. Both Dusek boys brought in over one and a half gallons worth of can tabs and Cassidy Lloyd is on a mission to fill the one-gallon collection jug in her homeroom singlehandedly.

“It is important for our students to understand that they can do good with small, focused initiatives. This specific service project, which runs until our last day of school, allows every student to participate. Even one can tab dropped in a homeroom collection jug can go towards our larger goal of one million can tabs. Every can tab counts! In the end, an amazing organization will benefit from our efforts,” said Mrs. Mueller, Holy Family Association Everyday Earnings Committee Chair.
Noonan Academy will gladly take can tabs collected by area residents or businesses if they would like to donate any. Please contact the Mrs. Kush, the school’s Communications Coordinator at pr@noonanacademy.org if you would like more information about getting involved.
