Brian James McCauley
Brian James "Jim" McCauley, age 76, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 3rd, 2026. Born April 12, 1949 in Joliet, he was the son of James Edward McCauley and Harriet Frances (Liske) McCauley. He was raised in Channahon and graduated with the Minooka High School class of 1967.

On August 9, 1975 Jim married the love of his life, Nancy Fisk, at a backyard ceremony in Channahon.
Jim worked as a Union carpenter for Local #174 for 34 years before retiring in 2002.

In his youth, Jim raced Mini Stock cars with his best friend and brother, Bob. He enjoyed target shooting, going to Menards, monthly lunches with his high school graduating class, and most importantly, spending time with his family. He truly enjoyed anytime his family could all get together and his weekly Sunday family dinners, where he would play board games, read with his grandchildren, and use all the ketchup. Jim was an amazing Dad and Papa, always putting his family before himself.
He is survived by his two daughters, Kathryn (Jason) Albritton of Normal and Kristyn (Scott) DeCourcey of Plainfield; his beloved grandchildren, James Albritton, Anna Albritton, and Harper DeCourcey; sisters-in-law Diana (Raymond) Cowling of Grayville and Bobbi McCauley of Cable, WI; brother-in-law, Jerry (Charlotte) Fisk of Port St. John, FL; nephew, Doug (Julie) Cowling of Browns; nieces, Tiffany (Scott) Hout of Grayville, Cecilia Qualls of Tamaroa, and Vanessa Fisk; great-nieces, Kaylea Smith, Camille Cowling, and Pixi Hout; great-nephew, Caden Cowling and a recent addition, great-great-niece, Rory Jo Smith.
Jim is preceded in death by his parents; beloved wife, Nancy McCauley (1984); nephew and best friend, Gregory McCauley (1990); great-nephew and niece, William and Whitlee Hout (2024); brother, Robert McCauley (2006), and his long time companion, his cat Salem (2024).
The family of Jim would like to extend their sincere gratitude to the dedicated care team at Edward Hospital and Hospice team for their exceptional support and compassion that they provided to their dad and family during this difficult time.
Funeral services for Brian James "Jim" McCauley will be held on Thursday, April 9th, 2026, at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Rd. (at Essington Rd) Joliet, where visitation will take place from 10:00 a.m. until services begin at 11:30 a.m. Interment will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers memorials in his name can be made to the Ronald McDonald House, 801 S. Washington St, Naperville, IL 60540.
