Obituary: Claudia A. Munoz

Claudia and her husband were big music enthusiasts and enjoyed traveling to music, wine and antiquing events throughout the country.

Obituary was published and funeral arrangements were entrusted to the care and direction of the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home and Crematory​.

Claudia Ann Munoz, (nee Anderson), age 71, of Crest Hill, passed away peacefully, Saturday, April 4, 2026, at Lightways Hospice with her loving family by her side.

Born July 7, 1954, in Joliet, she was the daughter of Claude and Eleanore (Graham)Anderson. She was a graduate of Chaney Grade School and Lockport West High School, and attended Joliet Junior College. Claudia began a 33 year career with the former Eagle Country Market, beginning at the age of 16, and was a proud member of the United Food and Commercial Workers International Union. She later worked in Customer Service with First Midwest Bank for an additional ten years until her retirement.

Claudia was actively involved in all the school and sports activities of her three sons, serving as a Room Mother and as an active member of the Chaney Monge Athletic Association and a volunteer with “Ghouls by the Pool.” She was also a member of the Italian American Wine Club and the Croatian Cultural Club.

A die-hard Chicago Cubs and Chicago Bears fan, Claudia and her husband were big music enthusiasts and enjoyed traveling to music, wine and antiquing events throughout the country. She also used her creative skills in assisting many of their music friends in creating their marketing, social media and website needs.

Claudia married the love of her life, Ruben Munoz, and they enjoyed 50 years of marriage prior to his passing January 30, 2026.

Surviving are her three devoted sons, Brent (Niki) Munoz, Justin (Michele Dockery) Munoz, and Adam (Danielle) Munoz; nine grandchildren, Alec, Didi, Grant and Kellen Munoz, McKenzie (Kody) Rueger, Tanner, Angelina, and Drew Dockery, and Maizy Dockery-Munoz; three great-grandchildren, Kastle, Vale, and Faye; a sister, Jeanne (the late Sylvester) Scalpelli; her husband’s siblings, Eloisa (Emilio) Abeyta, Alicia (Jose) Nino, Gloria (the late Albert) Barajas, Anna Camacho, Rene (Judy) Munoz, Jose Munoz, and Raul (Kelly) Munoz; nephew and niece, Anthony B. (Ellen) Scalpelli and Christine (Brad) Wachtl, with whom she was very close; and many other nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ruben; her parents, Claude and Eleanore; one grandson, Graham; a sister, Lynn Schelot; and Ruben’s four brothers, Eulalio, Juan, Jr., Ricardo, and Ernesto, in infancy.

Cremation rites have been accorded and a celebration of Claudia’s life will be held at a later date.
