Margaret Jean Carey

Margaret Jean Carey, age 91, of Shorewood, passed away in her home with her family by her side, on Friday, June 17, 2022.

Born May 7, 1931 in Mexico, MO, she was the daughter of the late Ora and Claudine Parks.

Margaret was raised and educated in Centralia, MO and married on December 1, 1946. In 1954, they moved to Chicago, and began to raise their family. In 1994, they bought their last home together in Morris, where they resided until 2013, when they moved to Shorewood.

Margaret Jean was preceded in death by her husband of 75 years, Charles; her parents; a brother, Bill Parks; and a sister, Patsy Mae Estep.

She is survived by her three children, Charlace (Alan) Mossell of Sumter, SC, Alan (Sally) Carey of Mokena, IL, and Patricia (Carmen) Schiavone of Shorewood; ten grandchildren, Mark (Laura) Mossell, Robyn (Donnie) McLeod, Nicole (Joe) Macedo, Sally (Mike) Schicker, Jason (Jennifer) Carey, Lynda (Mike) Murphy, Denise (Matthew) Maloney, Tracy (Tom) Kestel, Margaret (Scott) Siracusa, and Dan Crafton; 21 great-grandchildren, Matthew, Jacob and Katie Mossell, Johnny, Alaina, and Thomas Keffer, Joey and Nicholas Macedo, Mike and Madison Schicker, Matthew and Lorelie Carey, Owen and Wyatt Murphy, Connor and Jordan Maloney, Tony and Samantha Kestel, and Thomas and Maggie Bergen.

Visitation for Margaret Jean Carey will be held Thursday, June 23, 2022 from 10:00 a.m., until the time of funeral services at 12:00 p.m., at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Road, Joliet. Interment will be in Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery.
