23-Year-Old Pedestrian Struck, Killed By Train In Mokena

MOKENA, IL — A 23-year-old pedestrian was struck and killed by a train at the Hickory Creek station in Mokena around 4 p.m. Thursday. The Will County Coroner's Office said Kathryn Joost, of Palos Heights, was struck by a passing train and was pronounced deceased at 5:15 p.m.

The coroner's office said the final cause of death is pending an autopsy which will take place on Feb. 15.

Metra Rock Island tweeted that the incident occurred at the station, and not at a crossing. The incident is being investigated by Metra Police Department.
