Pioneer Grove Educational Center Student Receives Award

Using his iPad mini to help him make strides in his communication, Brody has caught the attention of Infinitec!

On Thursday, March 8, local area resident Brody Anders received the 2018 Infinitec Outstanding Student Technology award at the Infinitec awards banquet on March 8. He attends Pioneer Grove Educational Center in Frankfort. RBrody has made huge gains over the past years and is being honored at Infinitec.

“Brody was nominated for the 2017-18 Infinitec Southwest Outstanding Student Technology Achievement Award because he has made great strides in his progress of communicating with others using a communication app on his iPad mini” , said Anne Trovato, Speech Language Pathologist for Lincoln-Way Area Special Education Cooperative District 843. “Brody is a fun-loving and caring young boy whose smile lights up a room. The members of the educational team here at Pioneer Grove Educational Center are all proud of his accomplishments and enjoy hearing him tell a joke or ask “What’s up, dude?”’

Infinitec, which stands for infinite potential through technology, is the technology program of UCP Seguin of Greater Chicago. The mission of Infinitec is to advance independence and promote inclusive opportunities for children and adults with disabilities through technology.

The Infinitec Outstanding Technology Award honors students for their achievements in using assistive technology in school. The students selected have dramatically increased their independence by using technology such as special software, adapted wheelchairs, augmentative communications devices and other equipment and approaches.
