Police Apprehend Burglary Suspects at Construction Site on Wolf Road

Police surrounded Clarendale of Mokena, a senior living facility under construction, Tuesday morning.

Police responding to a burglary-in-progress call Tuesday morning surrounded a senior living facility under construction in Mokena on Wolf Road between Route 30 and Laraway Road.

One person was taken into custody outside the building when the first police unit responded. A second man was apprehended during a search inside the Clarendale of Mokena complex, 21536 Wolf Road. The U-shaped building has 156 apartments, as well as common areas.

Police from Mokena, Joliet and the Will County Sheriff’s Department were on the scene late Tuesday morning, and a helicopter circled over the neighborhood.

Construction workers from Ryan Companies clustered outside the building as police searched. Construction began in August 2014 and is expected to conclude this fall. The site has been targeted by thieves several times during construction.
