Public Input Meeting for Yunker Splash Barn Renovations
Mokena Park District is inviting the community to attend the meeting for your input about the project.
Mokena Community Park District is holding a Public Input Meeting regarding renovation plans for the Yunker Farm Splash Park Barn on Tuesday, May 23, 6:15pm at the Yunker Park Splash Barn, 10824 La Porte Road, Mokena.
The community is invited and encouraged to attend the meeting to add your input about the project. The purpose of the renovation is to transform the barn into a year-round facility to add much needed program and meeting space.
The project was first identified as a need in the 2019-2023 Comprehensive Master Plan. There will be no additional financial impact on the taxpayer. Mokena Community Park District is seeking over $1,000,000 in grants to help fund the renovation. The Park District has already been awarded a $157,000 grant to be used towards the HVAC upgrades and we are also applying for a Park and Recreational Facilities Construction Program (PARC) Grant for approximately $950,000. Public input is necessary to receive a maximum grant award.
