South Suburban Cops Pass The Torch For Special Olympics Illinois

Highlights from the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics Illinois relay made its way through the south suburbs on Wednesday.

ILLINOIS -- Officers from around the south suburbs passed the Flame of Hope during the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics Illinois. The Flame of Hope will make its way to Normal, Ill., for the opening ceremony of the Special Olympics Illinois Summer Games on June 7.

The Law Enforcement Torch Run is the single largest year-round fundraising movement benefiting Special Olympics Illinois. The intrastate relay conducted by officers represents every branch of law enforcement within the state as well as federal partners, running through thousands of Illinois communities via 23 different legs to its final destination. Approximately 3,000 officers carried the Flame beginning on June 2, including Chicago Ridge, Palos Heights, Orland Park , Tinley Park, Frankfort and Mokena police departments.
