"In some cases, the overhead garage door was left open and the offenders went into the garage and entered the unlocked vehicles," Keegan said. "In other cases the vehicle was left unlocked outside. If the unlocked vehicle had a garage door opener, they would open the garage and enter those vehicles inside the garage too."

The stolen car from New Lenox has been recovered by detectives in Dolton, police said. The stolen cars were either running and unoccupied when they were stolen or they were inside an open garage with the keys in the car.
