Saint Mary Mokena Combines Theology and Drinks for Young Adults
The four-talk series brings local young adults together through faith and beer.

Saint Mary Mokena is co-hosting a summer Theology on Tap series of Catholic talks exploring various young adult issues, to be held at Gatto’s Restaurant in New Lenox. Presentation topics range from adjusting to adulthood to stress management.
“Theology on Tap is a great way for young adults to broaden their understanding of the faith and how it can impact every day aspects of their lives,” explains Melissa Novak, Director of Adult Faith Formation at Saint Mary Mokena. “It also includes a social component where young adults can meet others to discuss the topic of the night and make new friends.”
This year, there will be four Theology on Tap sessions, each on a Tuesday night from 7 pm to 9 pm. The program is as follows:

June 27th: Responding with Love to People of Different Religions
What are some practical tips for talking to someone that holds such different beliefs? How can I respond to religious diversity at work, in my extended family or in my circle of friends? Dr. Tim Weldon will discuss answers to these questions and more! Dr. Weldon is a philosophy professor at the University of St. Francis in Joliet.

July 11th: Adulting as A Catholic
Adulting is hard. Adulting as a Catholic can be even harder! Join us as we share stories, experiences, and practical tips on how to "adult" as a Catholic in the secular and ever-changing world. Rebecca Siar will soon be the new Director of Campus Ministry at the University of Illinois Chicago. She has served for the past two years at St. Margaret Mary Parish in Naperville.
July 18th: 10 Ways to Cope with Stress and Suffering
Walk away with 10 ideas for handling stress and suffering and share how our faith can help us in difficult times. Deacon Gerard Erickson serves others who deal with mental health issues, addiction, and suicide. He energetically begins all things with the premise that God truly wants us to be happy and we should have fun with our faith!
July 25th: The Rainbow and the Cross
Is there a way for someone to be both proud of the rainbow and in love with the cross? How do we as Catholics best respond to LGBT issues in a way that manifests love and not hate? Fr. David Mowry has been a priest for four years and is the Parochial Vicar at St. Mary Parish in Plainfield.
The Theology on Tap program is being co-hosted by Saint Mary Mokena and Saint Jude in New Lenox, under the wing of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Joliet.
