Local AllStar Cheerleaders Win Four National Championships

Suburban Chicago athletes from Dreamz Elite Allstars win four first-place competitive all-star cheerleading titles.

Local athletes from Dreamz Elite Allstars nabbed four first place competitive all-star cheerleading titles at the American Classic National Championship competition held March 12-13, 2016 in Schaumburg, Illinois.

Members of Dreamz Elite Allstars won first place in the Tiny Level 1, Youth Level 1, Junior Level 2 and Senior 5 Restricted divisions.

In addition, the Varsity All Star judges awarded the Dreamz Elite Junior 2 team the Best Sportsmanship Award, one of just two programs to be recognized among the 250 teams entered. In recognition of this achievement, the American Classic National Championships donated $500 on behalf of Dreamz Elite Allstars to Stop Children’s Cancer, which is dedicated to supporting research for the prevention, control and cure of childhood cancers

Launched in 2012 by former Chicago Luvabull cheerleader, Kimberly Scherp, the program has grown 300 percent to become Chicago Southland’s leading competitive allstar cheer program. Today, eight professional coaches train upwards of 80 athletes traveling from Chicago, Frankfort, Homer Glen, Mokena, Manhattan, Matteson, Lockport, Richton Park, Romeoville, and as far away as Indiana. Dreamz Elite offers teams for all ages and skill levels as well as instruction for tumbling, stunting and flexibility. Evaluations for the 2016 – 2017 season start May 9– 11.

Under the direction of the United States All Star Federation, the nation’s estimated 450,000 all-star cheerleaders typically compete in seven different age ranges (Tiny, Mini, Youth, Junior, Senior, International and Special Needs), as well as two squad sizes (Small and Large) and six competition skill levels (L1-L6).

Unlike school-based cheer squads, all star cheerleading teams compete against other all star teams at the local, regional and national levels. All star cheerleaders train year round to perfect their stunts, tumbling, pyramids, jumps and dance routines that are choreographed to music. Routines are judged for skill difficulty, sharpness of motion, originality and proper execution.
