St. Mary Catholic School pairs with Schwan’s Cares for fundraising efforts

St Mary Catholic School Fundraiser, Schwans

St. Mary Catholic School’s Parent Teacher Council (PTC) is back on course with an easy, efficient way to support the Mokena elementary and intermediate school and eat healthy thanks to a new partnership with Schwan’s Cares.

For years, the PTC partnered with Market Day but the company abruptly shut down. The alternative is Schwan’s, a company best known for its ice cream but through this partnership can provide PTA supporters with more than delicious 350 frozen food products, including special diet alternatives, according to Nicole Yaniz, a parent volunteer spearheading the fundraising effort.

Unlike with Market Day, all orders will be delivered directly to the customer, eliminating the need to come to school for monthly order pick-up, she said. Deliveries can be as often as the customer prefers. Orders will be accepted online at Schwans-Cares.com or by phone at 1-855-870-7208. To give credit to St. Mary Catholic School, the campaign name ID number is 29505.

St. Mary Catholic School will get a 20 percent benefit on orders and 40 percent benefit on eGift card orders placed between October 17 and December 1, 2016.

Yaniz said the food options are numerous, including gluten free, vegetarian, organic, no sugar added, heart healthy and low calorie options. Many of the products are from the same suppliers Market Day used, so PTC members are certain the quality will be satisfactory.

All St. Mary School fundraising efforts help cover the costs of field trips, assemblies and other special programs that enrich the learning environment for kindergarteners through 8th graders.
