Summer Beauty Tips From The Experts At Mokena's Tresses Salon

Tresses Salon owners Pearl Garcia-Schober and Melanie Saldana describe how to deal with your summer frizz.

MOKENA, IL — As summer gets into full swing and with a blistering hot Father's Day weekend on deck, those in the beauty world know about the heat can cause frizz. Caused by humidity, frizz occurs when water molecules from the air get inside the hair and form curls.

Watch below as Melanie Saldana, co-owner of Tresses Salon in Mokena, gives a tutorial on how to combat frizz. Saldana and Pearl Garcia-Schober have owned the Tresses Salon at 19130 88th Ave. in Mokena for about two years.

Tresses Salon is what's known as a tutorial salon, Garcia-Schober said. Clients bring their own products into the salon, where one-hour tutorials are often held.

"We will show you how to do stuff on your own at home," she said.

On June 14, Tresses held a "Business After Hours" event with the Mokena Chamber of Commerce at the salon, where they explained the frizz suggestion while various vendors from across the south suburbs shared some of their products with shoppers who stopped by the Prairie Commons shopping center.
