This Week's Pet: Candy
Friendly pit bull mix is one of many pets at Tinley Park's PAWS animal shelter looking for a home.
When Candy, a 4-year-old pit bull mix, entered PAWS of Tinley Park on Aug. 10, she had swollen legs, missing fur, and wounds the animal shelter staff said indicated she might have been thrown from a car. She was brought in as a stray and had been found on the side of the highway.
With all that behind her, she is still friendly, sweet and curious (when I met Candy, she sniffed all over my bag looking for the cinnamon Altoids hidden inside). She loves chasing balls and sometimes bringing them back. Candy is also pretty active, and PAWS staff recommend owners who have a yard or can at least walk her several times a day.
Candy is up to date on all her shots and has been neutered and microchipped.
