Ticket Agent Dropped At Mokena Metra Station
Commuters who use the Rock Island line at the Mokena stop won't be able to buy a ticket from an agent at the station anymore.

MOKENA, IL -- The ticket office at the Mokena Rock Island Metra station will close at the end of the day on Sept. 8, Metra announced in a news release this week.
In June, Metra said customers at the Mokena station purchased 1,381 tickets, the second-lowest number of tickets sold on the line. Although the ticket offices are closing, passengers will still have access to station facilities.
“More than a third of all Metra tickets are now being purchased through the Ventra App,” said Metra Executive Director/CEO Don Orseno. “As our customers switch to this new ticketing option, we are able to eliminate ticket agent positions through attrition and be more efficient with our limited resources.”

Commuters who use the Mokena stop will be able to use cash to purchase a One-Way Ticket on board from a conductor after Sept. 8 at no extra cost.
On-site ticket sales have previously been eliminated at several other Metra stations on the Rock Island line and other lines that service Chicagoland.
