Road to Be Renamed in Honor of Mokena's Fallen Aaron Toppen
Plans are still in the works to dedicate Townline Road in honor of Toppen, 19, killed in friendly fire.
A portion of a local road will be given an honorary designation in memory of Mokena's Aaron Toppen, a 19-year-old soldier killed last month in apparent friendly fire incident in Afghanistan.
"In tribute of PFC Aaron Toppen’s life and service to our Country, Townline Road from 187th Street to Francis Road will be given an honorary designation in his name," reads a notice on the Village of Mokena's website.
Village and Frankfort Township official will work to finalize the dedication, with an official ceremony in his honor planned for later this summer.
