Virtual Reality at MIS

Students get immersive experience without leaving the classroom.

On Monday April 16, all students at Mokena Intermediate School (MIS) had the opportunity to participate in a Google Virtual Reality experience. Google brought in 360-degree cameras and the staff at MIS guided the students through the expedition. Students were able to create their own immersive virtual experiences using the cameras and the Google app.

Schools around the world use this technology on mobile devices in virtual reality viewers to give students virtual field trip experiences. Anything is possible with these cameras and they certainly make for unforgettable supplemental learning experiences. From swimming through coral reefs to exploring the Amazon, from visiting The Great Wall to soaring into space, Google Virtual Reality makes it possible for students to learn without having to leave the classroom.
