Wave Of Home Burglaries Hits Mokena
Jewelry and cash have been stolen from a number of unoccupied Mokena homes during daylight hours over the past few weeks.

MOKENA, IL - A number of Mokena residents have had their homes broken into over the past few weeks. Village officials said in a news break e-mail to the community Wednesday that it appears these crimes are related and that police are urging residents to remain "extra vigilant" in coming and going from their homes.
"If you notice a vehicle in your neighborhood matching the above description (or observe any other suspicious vehicle), or if you see people engaging in activities that seem even the least bit out of place, we urge you not to ignore them. Rather, call 9-1-1 immediately."
The burglaries have all been reported at residences in the village of Mokena limits between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. All homes were unoccupied at the times of the break-ins. Jewelry and cash were among the items reported stolen by residents.

A "common denominator" in all of the cases is the involvement of a newer white model Ford crew cab pick-up truck with a yellow light on top and two men inside, according to the village e-mail.
It wasn't included in the alert how many homes have been in targeted nor if any specific Mokena neighborhood has experienced more burglaries than others.
