Who’s in charge of the Oaks / Yunker Farm Construction?

Henry Brothers was awarded Construction Manager for the Oaks and Yunker Farm project in July of 2015, and signed a contract in October of 2015. Did you know that in March of 2016 the Park Board gave Henry Brother an additional s $ 134,000 for Insurance and bonding before the construction began? This $ 134,000 was not included in Henry Brothers bid like the other construction managers, they left out that detail. Graefen Development, Berglund Construction & Cosgrove Construction and others did not have “a clause in their proposal” that they get an extra for Insurance and Bonding. When you add this $ 134,000 extra this would have put Henry Brothers Construction Manager Fee in third place amongst the bidders.

In addition, there when the project was bid to subcontractors did you know they had 4 where the construction manager only received 1 proposal. How would you like to be one of the four bidders that didn’t have any competition?

Do you find it troubling that President Bartos or Planning and Development Commissioner Curran did not question the above? If you were involved wouldn’t you have asked the Construction Manager to get more bids?
