13 Vehicles, 5 Buildings Hit by BBs, Pellets Since Jan. 1

Aurora Police are asking for information from anyone who may have information in 15 separate incidents where vehicles and buildings have been damaged by BBs or pellets since the first of the year.

All of the 13 vehicles and five buildings hit have been located on either the Near East or Near West sides of the city. The damage appears to have occurred during the overnight hours between Jan. 1 and Jan. 12, although one victim said the damage to his home in the 1000 block of Pennsylvania Avenue may have occurred as early as Dec. 23 and as late as Jan. 6. Total damage is estimated to be at least $6,000 but several of the reports did not include damage estimates. Police currently have no solid suspect information.

Among the buildings hit were Sacred Heart Church in the 700 block of Fulton Street in the overnight hours of January 1 where two door windows were damaged. East Aurora High School in the 500 block of Tomcat Lane had three windows damaged between 4:30 p.m. January 12 and 7:00 a.m. January 13.

The only exception of damage not caused by BBs or pellets occurred in the 400 block of West New York Street in the overnight hours of January 9, where a pickup truck window was shattered with a brick. However, the owner of the pickup said his home was also hit by a BB or pellet. Police took additional West Side criminal damage reports that occurred in the overnight hours of January 10 in the 400 block of Spruce Street and 600 block of Hammond Avenue.

On the East Side, damage was reported in the overnight hours of January 8 in the 500 block of Benton Street, the first block of North Anderson Street and the 800 block of Fifth Avenue. Two reports were taken Jan. 10 and Jan. 12 in the 300 block of South Avenue. Damage also occurred in the overnight hours of Jan. 12 in the 300 block of South Fourth Street, 200 block of South Smith Street, and the 500 block of South Ohio Street.
