MONTGOMERY, IL — The pedestrian who was killed April 16 in a fatal car crash on Douglas Road has been identified, the Montgomery Police Department and Kane County Coroner's Office said in a joint news release Tuesday.
Javier Diaz, a 40-year-old resident of Chicago, died as a result of multiple traumatic injuries consistent with the crash, an autopsy determined. Results of Diaz's toxicology report are pending, officials said.
Diaz was struck at about 1:23 a.m. April 16 near Douglas Road and Seasons Ridge Boulevard. When officers responded, they found him in the roadway and began performing life-saving measures. He was later transported to a hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries, according to a news release.
"The Montgomery Police Department extends its heartfelt sympathy to the family of Mr. Diaz," officials said.
