• Cheapest premium gas in Kane County reach $4.87 in week ending Sept. 19 (kanecountyreporter.com) — Premium gas in Kane County recently ranged widely, with Montgomery among the listed communities showing some of the higher reported prices. The county's average premium price hit $5.86 per gallon, above the statewide average, as global oil markets and refinery issues continue to push fuel costs higher for local drivers.
   

• Streator man convicted in 2021 murder of 29-year old Aurora man (chicagotribune.com) — A Kane County jury has convicted a Streator man of first-degree murder for the 2021 shooting death of an Aurora driver on the Route 30 ramp in Montgomery. Local police identified and arrested the suspect in 2022, and he now faces at least 45 years in prison, with sentencing set for October.
