Aurora Man Charged After Police Find Cocaine, Cannabis In Car

Montgomery Police Department said 20-year-old Aurora man was charged with possession of controlled substance after traffic stop.

MONTGOMERY, IL — Montgomery Police Department Officers arrested 20-year-old Mauricio Tovar Gomez, of the 300 block of E. New York St., Aurora, during a traffic stop at Douglas and Sherman at 11:17 p.m., Nov. 2. According to police, after stopping Tovar Gomez and smelling the odor of cannabis in the vehicle, Tovar Gomez was arrested for not having a valid license.

During a search of the vehicle, officers found cannabis and cocaine, according to MPD.

Police said Tovar Gomez was charged with not having a license and possession of a controlled substance and was taken to Kane County Adult Justice Center.

Kane County Sheriff's Office records said Tovar Gomez is also being charged with attempted robbery.
