Be Part Of Montgomery's River Run 5K And 10K: Register

Part of the proceeds go to benefit local organizations like the VFW, Montgomery Foundation and Rotary.

MONTGOMERY, IL — Runners and volunteers are encouraged to sign up for the 15th Annual River Run 5k and 10k, taking place 7:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 6 in downtown Montgomery along the Fox River. The race committee said they're looking for volunteers for water stations, course marshals and timing of splits at mile markers for the family-friendly event.

There are several age divisions for those participating in the 5k and 10k race, which will feature a flat, fast USA Track and Field certified running course with splits given every mile and an overhead digital clock at finish. There will also be first aid and a water station. The age divisions are:

  • 14 and under
  • 15-19
  • 20-24
  • 25-29
  • 30-34
  • 35-39
  • 40-44
  • 45-49
  • 50-54
  • 55-59
  • 60-64
  • 65-69
  • 70 and over

The first two male and female finishers in each age division will be given awards. The overall male and female winners will be awarded plaques, and the award presentation will take place inside the Village of Montgomery at 10:30 a.m., or when all runners have crossed the finish line.

According to the race commitee, an estimated 250+ runners and their families participate on race day, and a portion of the proceeds raised will be donated to the Montgomery VFW Post #7452, the Montgomery Foundation and the Montgomery Rotary.
