District 308 Educators Display Strong Showing at State Award Ceremony
Local teachers recognized at "Those Who Excel" banquet.

Community Unit School District 308 would like to extend its congratulations to all District 308 award winners and nominees from the Those Who Excel awards banquet and program.
Sponsored by the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE), the program honors individuals who have made significant contributions to our state’s public and non-public elementary and secondary schools.
Southbury Elementary School fifth grade teacher Heather Kraus was one of 12 finalists for the prestigious Teacher of the Year award. School District 308 award recipients are as follows:
- Heather Kraus (Southbury Elementary School teacher), Award of Merit
- Gina Parks (Long Beach Elementary School teacher), Award of Recognition
- Uzma Rahman (Wolf’s Crossing Elementary School, education service personnel), Award of Excellence
- Tracy Zalud (Churchill Elementary School, early career educator), Award of Merit
- The Response to Intervention Team, Traughber Junior High School (Natasha St. Victor, Erica Neville, Brian Falli, Lara Biltgen-Morrissette, Debra Gomez, Jeannie Czekanski) Award of Merit
- Mutual Ground Inc., Rhonda Annala, Award of Recognition
The ceremony took place at the Marriott Hotel in Bloomington-Normal, Ill., on Saturday, Oct. 25.
