Thompson Junior High School will have a new interim assistant principal to replace Melissa Hinshaw for the remainder of the school year.

The Community Unit School District 308 Board of Education approved the hire of Sam LeDeaux on Monday, Nov. 10. LeDeaux comes to School District 308 with principal and assistant principal experience at Mann Elementary School in Oak Park School District 97.

“Mr. LeDeaux has some extremely impressive qualifications, and will make an excellent interim assistant principal at Thompson,” Assistant Superintendent for Administrative Services Dr. John Sparlin said. “We are confident Sam will be a great addition to the leadership team.”

While at Mann Elementary, LeDeaux implemented staff evaluation and growth processes, served on the district discipline committee, and implemented a school composting program, among other changes. Before his time at Mann Elementary School, he taught in Chicago Public Schools, as well as the Schaumburg Community Consolidated School District 54.

LeDeaux has a master’s degree in school leadership from Concordia University in River Forest, Ill. He also has a master’s degree in business administration from American InterContinental University in Hoffman Estates, Ill. He received his bachelor’s degree in education from Knox College in Galesburg, Ill.

LeDeaux said he is excited for the new challenge at Thompson Junior High School.

“The situation is a little bit unique,” he said. “I just want to be as supportive as I can of staff and administrators. Obviously everybody is in a groove already. When I get there, there will be a learning curve to go through.”
