Aurora Postal Cancellation Ceremony

A Postal Cancellation Ceremony to celebrate the City of Aurora's 175th birthday will take place at the post office.

The event will include postal employees holding a commemorative postmark saluting the city's history; a reading of the 1837 letter annoucning the establishment of the office; original music written about Aurora; and some words by Postmaster Jackie Sanchez.

The post office's commemorative postmark will be free but will only be able to be marked on first-class mail postage.

Collectors and souvenir hunters can bring their own envelopes with first class stamps affixed, or they can choose from a set of four pictorial envelopes featuring famous images of Aurora, offered at a normal price.

Cancelled pictorial envelopes will be for sale at the Aurora Historical Society gift shop throughout the year.
