Fugitive Friday: Man Accused Of Fleeing Crash Sought

PLANO, IL — The Kendall County Sheriff's Fugitive Friday post for June 1 asks for the public's help tracking down a 23-year-old Plano man wanted for fleeing and eluding. Marvin Benites, of East Edgelawn Drive, is wanted in connection with an early morning crash on April 29.

Last month, Plano police also put out a call for information on Benites, saying officers responded to a hit and run crash not far from Benites' home at 1:38 a.m. April 29.

"While officers were on scene investigating the accident, the offending vehicle drove past the scene," Plano police said. "The vehicle did not stop for police and fled from the scene," heading into the Village of Montgomery, where police ended the chase for safety reasons.

The vehicle was later found unoccupied in Oswego by Kendall County Sheriff's deputies.

After an investigation, these charges were filed against Benites: Two counts of aggravated fleeing/attempting to elude a peace officer, criminal trespass to a vehicle, leaving the scene of a property damage accident, driving on a suspended license, reckless driving and 12 other traffic violations.

"Anyone with any information on the whereabouts of Benites is asked to contact the Plano Police Department at 630-552-3122 or Kendall County Crime Stoppers at 630-553-5999," Plano police said. "Callers can remain anonymous and are eligible for a reward of up to $1,000 for information leading to the arrest of the offender."
