Gun, Drug Charges Filed In Montgomery Traffic Stop
A 27-year-old Aurora woman with multiple warrants was arrested.

MONTGOMERY, IL — An Aurora woman was taken into custody on multiple felony charges and multiple warrants after Montgomery police responded to a report of a person with a weapon. Police said Jamie Esparza, 27, of the 300 block of New York Street, was a passenger in a vehicle stopped near Douglas and Montgomery roads at around 11:41 p.m. Saturday.
Police said Esparza was in possession of a firearm and was charged with armed violence, possession of a controlled substance and unlawful use of a weapon. She also had warrants out for her arrest on domestic battery and criminal property damage charges, according to police.
A .380 handgun was found in the back seat of the car, and Esparza was in possession of methamphetamine, authorities told WSPY.

Esparza was taken to the Kane County jail, and her bail was was set at $109,000. She remained in custody as of Tuesday evening with a court date set for June 7.
The driver of the car, Luis Leon of Berwyn, was arrested for driving on a suspended license and was released after posting bond.
