Kifowit Hosts Recycling and Prescription Drug Collection Event

State Rep. Stephanie Kifowit

AURORA, Ill. – Offering safe paper shredding, recycling of electronics and medications, and collecting donated books, state Rep. Stephanie Kifowit, D-Oswego, will host a “Recycle and Shred Day” on Saturday, May 2 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at her district office parking lot at 1677 Montgomery Road, Suite 116, Aurora, Ill.

“After tax season is the time to safely get rid of identifying paperwork, to make sure it doesn’t fall into the wrong hands,” Kifowit said. “I encourage anyone with documents, electronics, books, K-cups and cell phones to stop by this event and feel good knowing your donation is helping our planet and our community. It’s also important to make sure unused prescription medications are properly disposed of to prevent them from entering our water supply.”

Electronic recycling will be limited to microwaves, DVD players, VCRs, game consoles, printers, cable receivers, fax machines, digital players and recorders. Televisions and monitors will not be accepted. Unused prescriptions will be collected, but controlled substances will not be accepted.
