Montgomery, Conservation Foundation Offer Rain Barrel Program

The village is encouraging residents to lower their water bills by ordering rain containers.

MONTGOMERY, IL — The Village of Montgomery has partnered with the Conservation Foundation to offer industrial-grade rain barrels to residents for an "all-time low price," the village said. People are encouraged to order the containers online by May 18. The village said the barrels can be used to water lawns, wash cars and help with other household chores.

"If you don't take advantage of this special environmentally friendly, limited time offer to buy a rain barrel in time for summer, all that precious water flowing through your gutters will be swept down the storm drain," the village posted on its website.

Rain barrels cost $60.00 each and can be ordered in black, blue, grey or terra cotta. Wooden stands, installation and accessories are available at an additional cost.
