Montgomery Party Killing: Man, 23, Charged With Murder

MONTGOMERY, IL — A 23-year-old Montgomery man has been charged with first-degree murder after Kane County prosecutors said he shot and killed an Aurora man at a party in May.

Ladarius A. Parker attended a house party in the 1700 block of Stonegate Drive in Montgomery on May 2. There, he fatally shot 30-year-old Christopher B. McMorris, who was sitting in his car parked on the street, according to the Kane County State's Attorney's Office.

Although the case remains under investigation, Parker was served an arrest warrant by the U.S. Marshals Service and brought into custody in Freeport, Indiana, Friday, officials said.

Parker, of the 1100 block of Light Road, was charged with two counts of first-degree murder, aggravated discharge of a firearm, and unlawful use or possession of a weapon by a felon. Kane County Judge Susan Clancy Boles set the man's bail at $3 million, with 10 percent to apply for bond.

His next court date is set for Jan. 19 at the Kane County Judicial Center.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call Montgomery police Detective Chris Johnson at 331-212-9074. The Montgomery Police Department is conducting the investigation with help from several agencies across Kendall and Kane counties as well as the Aurora, Oswego, Yorkville and Freeport police departments.
