Montgomery Police Seeking Part-Time Officers
The Village of Montgomery lists part-time police officer qualifications and how to apply.

MONTGOMERY, IL — If your or someone you know would be interested in becoming a part-time police officer with the Montgomery Police Department, now is the time to apply. The Village of Montgomery said they're looking for part-time police officers to join the department, specifically those who would deliver outstanding customer service to residents and visitors. According to the online job post, the part-time position involves a variety of police duties, including preserving peace, preventing crime, traffic enforcement, apprehending offenders, maintaining law and order, maintaining custody of prisoners and more.
According to the job notice, note that part-time police officers carry firearms only when they're in uniform and while performing job duties with the permission of the Montgomery Chief of Police.
The part-time police officer position doesn't advance to a full-time police officer position, as there's a separate application and testing process for full-time police officers.

Montgomery Police Department part-time officer position qualifications/experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Possession of a valid driver’s license.
- Only applicants who hold a current, valid state Certification of Law Enforcement Officer, in accordance with ILCS 50/705, will be considered. Graduate of a State of Illinois basic recruit academy and meets requirements for Illinois Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board for Certified Police Officer.
- Must not have been convicted of a felony or certain misdemeanors, as defined by statute.
- Must participate in and successfully complete all stages of the testing process, which may include but not limited to: oral interview, extensive background investigation and post offer physical/drug test.
- Must be a citizen of the United States.
- 21 years of age or older.
- Ability to work evenings, weekends and holidays.
- Active law enforcement service within the past 5 years at time of application is highly preferred.
- Hours: Approximately 48+/mo.
- The starting wage is $20.00 per hour
