Oswego High School Music Teacher Participates in National Conference
Kevin Schoenbach was at 17th annual Conn-Selmer Institute at Bethel College.

Submitted by Oswego School District:
Oswego High School assistant director of bands Kevin Schoenbach participated in a three-day enrichment event in June for music educators at Bethel College Mishawaka, Ind.
The 17th Annual Conn-Selmer Institute allowed more than 300 of the finest directors, administrators, parents and college students from across the country focus on enriching and growing music education.
The event featured master classes pertaining to everyone, and breakout sessions for small groups. It had a profound impact on Schoenbach and how he teaches, he said.
“I found myself learning the most about how I set up rehearsals, and how I go about setting up goals for a successful band program,” he said. “I am not much of a note taker at events like this, but there was so much information that I did not want to forget that I filled up an entire notebook. To say this was the highlight of my educational career is an understatement.”
Guests were given the opportunity to hear from an iconic group of internationally acclaimed music educators and presenters who discussed topics ranging from student motivation to classroom management and rehearsal techniques.
