Oswego School District Wins Award for Annual Report

District 308 presented with Stevie Award earlier this summer.

From Oswego School District 308:

Community Unit School District 308 won the bronze Stevie Award at the American Business Awards for its 2013 annual report in the category of Best Annual Report.

The American Business Awards—the nation’s premier business awards—received a record number of more than 3,300 nominations this year across all categories from organizations representing virtually every industry in the country. More than 240 top executives from around the world chose this year’s award recipients, which included many recognizable names such as Yahoo, GE, The City of Detroit, Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport, AT&T, and NASCAR.

“For our annual report to be selected as one of the best in the country, across all industries, is gratifying and extremely rewarding,” said District 308’s Director of Communications and Public Relations Brian Graves. “I am honored and proud of all of the people who worked on this project.”

The 2013 annual report, a summary of district-related news and information produced for the communities District 308 serves, is the first produced by the Communications Department under the direction of Graves. It featured information on the district’s 22 schools, its history, its leadership team, and its recent achievements, as well as other interesting and pertinent facts.

“I am delighted the District 308 Communications team under the leadership of Brian Graves received this type of national recognition for their hard work,” said Superintendent of Schools Dr. Matthew Wendt, who distributed the annual report at the February State of the District address.

“The annual report is an important document for us,” Wendt said. “It allows teachers, parents, and students to familiarize themselves with our district in a meaningful way. Being awarded a bronze Stevie Award demonstrates others outside of School District 308 recognize the quality of the work being produced by this district.”

The Stevie Awards were presented June 13 at a gala held at the Fairmont Chicago Millennium Park Hotel. The Stevie Awards recognize excellence in annual reports, brochures, marketing and sales kits, newsletters, house organs (corporate magazines), and other publications issued since January 1, 2013. More than 400 nominees and their guests attended the Chicago event.
