Oswego Teacher is Finalist for Illinois Teacher of the Year Award

Oswego School District 308 teacher Heather Kraus has been selected as one of twelve finalists for the Illinois State Board of Education’s Teacher of the Year award.

Kraus teaches fifth grade at Southbury Elementary School.

A selection committee composed of administrators, teachers and representatives from educational service personnel, student support personnel and past Illinois Teacher of the Year winners reviewed 231 nominations before determining this year’s finalists, according to a Tuesday press release from the ISBE.

The 2015 Illinois Teacher of the Year will be announced during the Those Who Excel banquet Saturday, Oct. 25, at the Bloomington-Normal Marriott Hotel and Conference Center in Normal.
